Obituary for Ernest Grunwald

On Thursday August 9, 2018 at 104 years of age, Ernest Grunwald died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Born March 28, 1914 in Bielefeld, Ernest escaped Nazi Germany and lived in Switzerland for a year. He immigrated to the USA in 1941 and served in the US Army Air Force from 1943 to 1945. Together with his wife Ilse and her family, and later his son Alan, he built a very successful watch manufacturing business, Belair Time.

Ernest was predeceased by Ilse; his brother Fred, and his sister Anneliese. He is survived by his daughter and son in law Elaine and Eric Moskowitz of Wooster, OH; his son and daughter in law Alan and Joan Grunwald of Morganville, NJ; and his grandchildren David, Rachel, Kara & Daniel Moskowitz, and Jason, Adrienne & Nolan Grunwald.
There will be a funeral service held at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan on Sunday at 11:00 AM; followed by interment in Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus. Memorial donations can be made to: Wounded Warriors Project
