Obituary for Kiet Phuong

Kiet Phuong
Kiet Phuong, wife, mother and grandmother, peacefully passed away at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital on September 22, 2017.
Kiet was a dedicated mother and grandmother who wanted nothing more than happiness for her family. She singlehandedly raised her two children in Vietnam, toiled several jobs in Vietnam and Laos, and sent both of her kids to university, a remarkable feat in a traditional Asian society. Years later, when she moved to the US, she lived with her daughter Nancy and took care of the family everyday. She was a rock in the family and held the family together for many years.
Kiet was an exemplary and resilient woman, who fought every challenge in life with great passion, grit and perseverance. In the end, it was dementia and pneumonia that took her away, but her body fought until the final moment. Even when her health started to fail, Kiet’s eyes would light up whenever her family visited her.
We will sorely miss her. Kiet loved her family and always treated everybody with utmost kindness. She is survived by her children Nancy Liou and Phee Chong, and her grandchildren Catherine Liou, Eric Liou and Emily Chong.
